Role summary - Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer

We are looking for a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer. You will be responsible for designing, developing and optimising scalable marketing automation solutions using the full capabilities of Salesforce Marketing Cloud.


Your role combines technical development, data management and campaign execution, enabling organisations to deliver personalised, data-driven customer journeys across multiple channels.

You will also work closely with marketing teams and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring campaigns are efficient, compliant and aligned with customer engagement goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage end-to-end marketing campaigns using Journey Builder, Automation Studio and Email Studio
  • Develop and optimise audience segmentation using SQL and data extensions
  • Create and maintain automations (data imports, transformations, triggered sends, ETL processes)
  • Develop dynamic and personalised content using AMPscript and Server-Side JavaScript (SSJS)
  • Design and manage data models and Contact Builder architecture
  • Ensure data quality, platform hygiene and subscriber management
  • Monitor and optimise campaign performance and deliverability
  • Configure platform features such as transactional messaging, preference centres, and triggered communications
  • Integrate Marketing Cloud with external systems using APIs (REST/SOAP) and Marketing Cloud Connect
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical and data-related issues
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Stay up to date with Salesforce releases, best practices and compliance standards (e.g. email regulations, DKIM)


Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and customer lifecycle journeys
  • Experience in campaign execution, audience segmentation, and subscriber management
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot independently
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Experience working in client-facing or cross-functional environments
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Marketing Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (development + administration)
  • Salesforce certifications (preferred): Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist & Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer


Nice to have (Bonus)

  • Experience with Salesforce DX, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tools
  • Exposure to ETL tools and data integration platforms
  • Knowledge of loyalty marketing and advanced personalisation strategies
  • Experience with Google Analytics or similar tracking tools
  • Agency or consulting experience
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Sales Cloud (e.g. Lightning Email Templates)
